21st Century Fox is a multinational mass media corporation, based in New York City, United States.
The company was formed in 2013 after News Corporation (founded by Rupert Murdoch in 1979) split into two separate companies: 21st Century Fox (which retained its broadcasting and film assets) and News Corp (which retained its publishing assets).
The split was carried out to improve the management of the companies, which Murdock stated would “unlock” their true potential value.
The creation of 21st Century Fox was finalized on June 28, 2013. It began trading for the first time on the NASDAQ and Australian Securities Exchange on July 1, 2013.
At June 30, 2013, the Company had approximately 25,600 full-time employees.
21st Century Fox has a global portfolio of broadcast, film, cable, pay-TV and satellite assets across six continents.

Filmed Entertainment – the production and licensing of television programming and live-action and animated motion pictures for distribution and licensing around the world.
Direct Broadcast Satellite Television – distribution of programming services via cable, broadband, and satellite to customers in Germany, Austria, and Italy.
Other, Corporate and Eliminations – consists of corporate overhead and eliminations, in addition to other businesses.
