The company was created in 1935 by J.P. Morgan & Co. partners (namely Henry S. Morgan and Harold Stanley) because of the Glass-Steagall Act – which separated commercial and investment banking businesses.

Morgan Stanley is now one of the most prominent investment banks in the world, with operations in more than 42 countries, and a team of over 60,000 employees. It is the owner of the world’s largest brokerage.
