The company was founded in 1930 under the name “American Machine and Metals”. It was not until the early 1960’s that it changed its name to Ametek.

Ametek, Inc. is comprised of two primary business groups:

Electronic Instruments: manufacturing of advanced instruments for the aerospace, power, industrial, and process markets.

Electromechanical: supplier of electrical interconnects, speciality motors, thermal management systems, floor care, and precision motion control systems.
