What’s the best flooring for the kitchen?

For the majority of us, the kitchen is the heart of our home and as a result, we want it to be stylish as well as practical. With wood flooring’s popularity always rising, a lot of us are laying it in our kitchens. While it certainly comes with its own unique benefits, it’s not actually the wisest choice for the kitchen. Luckily there are plenty of alternatives, so you’re not having to give up your wood dream.

Solid wood seems great…but…

Solid wood is without a doubt one of the most luxurious and beautiful flooring types around. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it also has amazing durability that will last for a lifetime if the right care is taken.

Despite all this, we wouldn’t recommend it in your kitchen for a number of reasons. The first being is that it’s no good when it comes into contact with water, as well as being suspectable to scratches and stains. This is obviously no good when it comes to the kitchen as these are very common! If the wood is something you have your heart set on, however, then go for engineered wood as it’s much more practical and looks the same!

Vinyl

Armed with this knowledge, vinyl is a much more suitable choice. It presents us with outstanding durability and practical benefits which include water, stain, and scratch-proof surface. You don’t have sacrifice wood’s authentic look either, with LVT offering very realistic impressions of real wood at a cheaper price – it’s almost impossible to tell the difference!
