Whether you’re a newcomer to the Roulette table or seasoned player, it’s always good to refresh your betting know-how, so you have an idea of what bets you’d like to place.
There are many types of bets that can be placed within a Roulette game — whether you play within a brick-and-mortar establishment or a casino online — including bet types such as inside and outside bets.
With this in mind, we thought it would be a great idea to give a little update on what outside bets are and how to place them on a Roulette table.

Outside Bets and How to Place Them
-
Column Bet
To place a column bet, you will need to place your betting chip in the 2:1 / 2 to 1 box according to the column you wish to bet on. Each available column contains 12 numbers. These numbers will not be in numerical order, only in the order they are found within the table.
-
Dozen Bets
This consists of placing a bet on 12 numbers at once, this time in numerical order – simply place a chip in the 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12 box, clearly arranged on the table.
-
Red/Black Bet
As the name of this bet type gives away, it’s all about predicting the correct colour of the winning pocket within the wheel. With red or black to choose from, it is a bet with just under a 50% chance of winning.
As there are one or two green pockets on the wheel, depending on your version of play, your chances of correctly predicting are reduced to just under 50%. To place this type of bet, you will be required to place a betting chip in the shape of a red or black diamond between the odd and even boxes.
-
Odd/Even bet
Will the winning pocket contain a number that is either odd or even? This is what this bet type helps you bet. Just like the red/black bet type, due to the green zero(s) on the wheel, there is just under a 50% chance of you winning this bet type. You will need to place your betting chip inside the box that indicates either even or odd, depending on which way you would like to bet.
-
Low / High Bet
A low/high bet is essentially a bet on whether the number displayed in the winning pocket of the wheel will fall within the low or high number category. Numbers between one and 18 are classified as low. Numbers between 19 and 36 are considered high. Therefore, if your predicted number falls within the low or high number category, you will need to place a betting chip in the box that says ‘low’ or ‘high’.
Now you know a little more about outside bets within a Roulette game, will you be placing an outside bet type in your next betting opportunity when you log into your casino account?
