As technology evolves, people’s lives have become more and more controlled by it. From being able to order your favorite meal online and get it delivered to your door in a matter of minutes, to building close relationships with people who live on the other side of the world, it is all due to the wonders of the human mind, its capacity to think and one’s ability to imagine new things.
How Can A Lamp Be Smart?
The first thing that may be crossing your mind (and justifiably so), is the notion that a smart lamp is surely ridiculous. A smart lamp is not the same as what one would consider human smartness, for example, the ability to reason on a complex level.
Rather, lamps that are considered ‘smart’ are so in the manner that they are controlled via another device that is electronic, such as a phone or tablet. You are in charge of a lot more than simply turning the lamp off or on with a lamp that is smart via your device. There is an iceberg of hidden functions that are accompanied by this incredible device.
It Is All About Those Hidden Functions – The One With Colour
These incredible pieces of brand new technology allow you to control the color emitted by the bulb itself for one. Studies have shown that the colour of light has the ability to impact an individual’s mood.
Do you suddenly feel as though you are in the mood for a little bit of a blue tinge to a particular room in your home? What about red to set the tone? Owning a smart lamp will allow you to do this. The choice is all up to you.
More Functions – How Bright is Your Light
Brightness and the control of it is yet another way that a smart lamp can aid you and make your life as easy as possible. At some point, such as when one is studying for an exam or working on a very important project, bright light can be of utmost importance. However, there are other instances, such as that candlelit dinner where one decides to pop the oh so important question to the love of one’s life, where a slightly dimmer light may be needed.
One could also be in a situation where the two of you are working together on a project and then having that dinner. If this is the case, having a smart lamp will be exceptionally useful. One will be able to control the brightness of the light from one’s app on one’s phone. Talk about winning without having to get up!
Another Function – Timing
As people become increasingly busy and sometimes away from their homes for longer periods of time, particularly due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic where many people have been unable to return to their homes, it has become more and more important to be able to control when lights go on and off.
This is purely from a safety perspective. Criminals are intelligent beings who know what to look for. If your home’s lights are off for a lengthened period of time, the home will become an easy target as it is clear that the owners are away. By owning a lamp (or three) that is smart, you will be able to control the time that the light goes on and off.
This will allow your home to look occupied even though it is not. Talk about keeping your belongings safe at a distance!
Not Another Function – Money
Finally, when deciding on which lamp is smart to purchase, you must do your research thoroughly. The first thing that must be done is a check on what the average lamp that is smart costs and what you can afford. Ideally, a smart lamp, and in a medium price range should be purchased.
These lamps are a safe option as they will not be in most cases of terrible quality (like ones that cost very little), yet will not break the oh so fragile bank. Given that we are living in a world where the economy is currently very volatile, this can be a deal-breaker.
