The Rise of the Home Office – A Trend Not Likely to Stop Soon

The home office has become a very popular topic since early 2020. Since the pandemic has started, people and businesses were racking their brains trying to find the best solution to keep the production flow going. And they have found a solution, which is working from home. Working from home then lead to the rise of the home office. Now everyone is crazy about it – organizing their rooms, buying home computers, looking for the best chair, etc.

It is also very likely that the popularity of home office will not stop anytime soon. Especially when the pandemic is still happening and being a freelancer is much more attractive nowadays. This home decor and business blog has been explaining why working from home is popular and what you can do to create a productive and comfortable home office.

Also, let’s talk more about the popularity of home offices in this article. And perhaps, you can learn why people want to work from home, and then you can do it too.

Anxiety at work

Working at an office may cause anxiety to some people. And once they experience working from home themselves, they don’t want to go back to the office ever again. This is actually more common than you think. At organizations that are not communicating well, everyone who is involved may become anxious and not able to focus on their work. This kind of problem can be taken care of by allowing remote working. Communicating with each other via the internet is also not as bad as you may think. In fact, it is so much better than person-to-person communication for some people.

No more technological limitations

While it is true that not everyone can work from home due to some limitations, I think it’s safe to say that technological limitations are not really a thing now. Many years ago, only a handful of professions can be done from home. Now, thanks to the internet and many other technological advances, a lot of jobs can be done from the comfort of one’s home. This is including how many people who live in rural areas can finally work from home.

People were already working from home before

This may be shocking to some, but do you know that people were already working from home before the pandemic? Well, it is actually more like a non-official arrangement that some people had. Meaning that they take their work home with them without talking to their superiors first. Only a small portion of workers got paid to work from home, while the majority of them got paid for working at an office.

Before the pandemic, only higher-paid professionals can telecommute. And now, with the pandemic and the new trend of working from home, telecommuting has become the norm for all kinds of jobs. This is because many companies told their employees to work from home, while other people have gone ahead and told their companies that they want to work remotely.

The great resignation

The great resignation is one of the biggest driving forces of remote working or telecommuting. Employees between the age of 30 and 45 years old are resigning from their jobs to work from home as a freelancer or build their home businesses. But it’s not just them who are resigning, the great resignation actually started by people in the 20 to 25 age range, although this demographic has been slowing down. This happens due to the reduced demand for entry-level workers.

Now, the great resignation just keeps going, with people in the 60 to 70 age group starting to quit their jobs. Many mid-level employees are starting to quit their jobs to pursue something else. But, it is clear that many people are reluctant to go back to the office. And when push comes into shove, many people have decided that resigning is the solution.

There are so many proofs that say working from home or home office is going to be popular for many years to come. There is simply no sign of the popularity slowing down. Perhaps, working from home will be treated as normal from now on, with many companies offering remote work for their employees.
