Top Home Gym Ideas for the Ultimate Workout

Home workout has been a part of our lives for years, but it has assumed a new significance since the Covid-19 outbreak forced gyms to close all over the globe. Most of us are looking for ways to workout successfully inside of four walls, whether it be taking a yoga session on Zoom or impulsively purchasing a Peloton. The at-home, online training session is a modern foundation in physical health, despite the fact that gyms are gradually starting to welcome back customers in various locations.

A recent survey uncovered that four out of five Americans who worked out from home said they will stick with at-home routines even after they feel at ease going back to the gym in the future. 90 percent of respondents stated their at-home workout programs were effective, with 54 percent of respondents saying they were very or incredibly effective and 77 percent doing exercises three times a week or more.

Combined Office and Gym

According to the US Census Bureau, the number of people primarily working from home rose from 5.7% (9 million_) in 2019 to 17.9% (26.7 million) in 2021. In May 2023 in the UK, 39% of workers said they had worked from home at some point in the previous seven days, according to Statista.

With many working from home, having an office in your residence is unavoidable. If there is enough space, you can combine the office with a simple gym.

If you do not have a lot of space, use furniture with concealed compartments to house your yoga mats, dumbbells, exercise gear, weights, etc.

Convert Your Basement

If your basement has plenty of space and lots of items you don’t use, you can turn it into a home gym. Simply dispose of the items you do not need to create more space and hire a professional to establish a proper gym environment with safety features like a rubber floor.

Make a Fitness Room Out of Your Attic

Most attics, like basements, are used to store items that are rarely used. The only challenge with using the attic as a home gym is air quality. Ensure that any visible insulation is sealed with plasterboard for safety and improved air quality, and add window air conditioners and ventilation to the room to maintain a pleasant temperature. Also, ensure the flooring is adequately supported if you intend to employ large machinery or weights.

Utilize the Extra Bedroom

An extra bedroom can be perfect for yoga sessions as you will use the wall mirrors to check whether you are in good form. Yoga workouts are not intense and do not need expansive equipment like weights. All you will need to convert the room is a yoga mat, meaning you can still leave the items that were previously in the room untouched.
