What to see in Jordan: much more than Petra

It seems like yesterday when a few bloggers and friends left for Jordan. We were excited about this destination that many of us had already dreamed of, but I can assure you after returning that it has captured us, exceeding all our expectations. One of the advantages of taking Jordan Tours is that it is a small country that can be visited in a short time, and that also offers a multitude of possibilities for cultural, religious, health, or adventure tourism.

Places full of energy such as rivers, deserts, ancient cities, seas, and mountains will seduce you. Therefore, we have made a list of places to see in Jordan so that you don’t miss anything.

  1. Amman

On many occasions, blinded by the impressive places that await us, we forget about the capitals of the countries we travel to, but miss out on some interesting things that we will love. I recommend that you do not leave the city of Amman and its places of interest, such as the Citadel, the Roman amphitheater, the mosque of King Abdullah I, Rainbow Street, and the good atmosphere that is breathed.

  1. Petra

It is the essential place, the ancient lost city of Petra rises before our eyes, overwhelming our hearts. How can you express in words what you feel in Petra, visiting one of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World? Just imagine a place full of history, that makes your hair stand on end, transporting you to another time in the purest explorer style.

  1. Wadi Rum

Wadi Rum, the desert of Lawrence of Arabia, left us speechless, with its beautiful and enormous stones that give mystery to the landscape and its warm red sands that envelop you at sunset. In addition, it offers many activities at affordable prices, such as exploring its dunes by jeep, riding a camel, and, best of all, taking a balloon ride to see it from the sky.

  1. Dead Sea

The experience at the Dead Sea is incredible, the best therapeutic tourism, in what is possibly the most relaxing place in the world. Float in its waters, and oxygenate yourself at 413 m. below sea level, and pampering the skin with its medicinal mud, is priceless.

  1. Jordan River in Bethany

I loved the visit to Bethany and the Jordan River, the place where Jesus Christ was baptized and where the stones He stepped on to reach the water are still preserved, as well as many other churches located there, as it is considered a sacred place for a multitude of religions. In the same way, we were able to enjoy a swim in its waters full of magnetism, just a few meters from Israel, and live one of those moments that fill us travelers with satisfaction.

  1. Red Sea

If you reach the city of Aqaba, you will discover a great holiday city on the coast, in the purest Jordanian style, since it has only 24 km. of coastline that the country has and temperatures that do not drop below 20 C throughout the year. In addition to diving in the Red Sea, discovering its coral barriers and sunken shipwrecks, there are many activities to do such as a barbecue on a boat, from which we saw a huge turtle so close that we could almost touch it, we observed the life of its beaches, its shishas and burkinis, we visited the Mameluke Fort and tasted exquisite dinners in restaurants full of charm.

  1. Wadi Mujib

Wadi Mujib is a 410 m deep gorge. on the shores of the Dead Sea, which is part of the lowest-altitude nature reserve in the world. A highly recommended excursion for hiking, or if you travel in summer, to descend through its canyons full of water and adrenaline.

You see? Jordan is more than just Petra!
