Information we receive
When you email us or use an available contact or subscription feature, we receive what you submit. This may include your name, email address, message and other information you choose to provide. We use it to respond, handle your request or provide requested updates.
Loading the website sends technical information to services that deliver and protect it. This can include your IP address, requested page, access time, browser and device details, referral information, and security or error records. Optional services may also use browser identifiers, cookies or similar technologies when enabled under the regional defaults or your saved settings described below.
Why we use information

Where applicable law permits, we rely on legitimate interests in operating and securing the website and responding to enquiries for the necessary technical information and correspondence used for those purposes. We rely on a legal obligation when the law requires processing.
Services used by the website
Providers receive information needed for their functions. The services relevant to this policy include:
- Cloudflare: network delivery, caching, security, performance measurement and the Zaraz consent banner. Zaraz remembers the optional purposes you accept or reject. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits without cookies or browser storage. Cloudflare also handles technical information needed for network and security services. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4: readership and usage measurement when Analytics is enabled. Requests can include pages visited, referrals, device information and browser identifiers. See how Google uses information from partner sites.
- Jetpack and Automattic: website features, including Jetpack Stats when Analytics is enabled. Other Jetpack functions may process information needed for the feature you use. See Automattic’s notice for website visitors.
- YouTube and Vimeo: external video players where included, when Embedded media is enabled. The provider receives technical information when its player loads and may use cookies or other storage. See Google’s privacy policy and Vimeo’s privacy policy.
- Google advertising integration: an existing integration may display a separate privacy message. Google may receive technical information when it loads, even without displaying an advertisement. Its message identifies applicable advertising purposes, partners and choices. These are separate from our Analytics and Embedded media settings.
- Hosting and email providers: services that host the website, handle correspondence and deliver requested messages.
Providers may operate outside your country, including in the United States. Their notices describe processing and international transfer arrangements. Contact us about a particular service.
Cookies and your choices
Our cookie policy explains known cookies, purposes, provider information and browser controls. The Cloudflare Zaraz banner saves your choices in a first-party consent cookie. A separate necessary cookie distinguishes automatic regional defaults from choices you made. Necessary functions remain active to remember those choices and provide basic operation and security.
For visitors in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we show the banner and keep Analytics and Embedded media off unless you enable them. Elsewhere, they are enabled by default if you have not made a choice. We use the country estimated from your IP address, not precise location. If the country is unknown, we show the banner and keep these purposes off. A saved choice you made takes priority in every region, and Cookie settings remains available everywhere.
Use this button or the persistent Cookie settings control to accept, reject or choose Analytics and Embedded media at any time. Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats load only when Analytics is enabled, and YouTube and Vimeo players only when Embedded media is enabled. You can read articles with both purposes off.
When you withdraw consent, a page reload may be needed to stop a feature already loaded. Withdrawal applies to future processing covered by your choice and does not undo earlier processing. Browser settings let you inspect and delete remaining cookies, including those saved by other providers.
Google’s advertising privacy message has separate choices. Where available, use its controls or this button to review them. Changing our Analytics or Embedded media setting does not change choices in Google’s message.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the information and its purpose. We keep correspondence and subscription information for the purposes for which you provided it, and where needed to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. You can ask about information relating to you or request deletion, subject to applicable requirements.
The consent cookie lasts up to one year in the current setup, unless you delete it sooner. Saving a new choice can renew this period. Other cookie durations are described in our cookie policy. A cookie’s expiry does not determine how long a provider keeps information already received. Provider notices give further retention information.
Your privacy rights
Your rights depend on the law that applies. They may include access, correction, deletion, a copy in a usable format, restriction of processing, and objection to certain processing. You can withdraw consent where processing depends on it and may complain to a data protection authority.
California residents may have rights to know about information collected, request correction or deletion, opt out of sale or sharing as defined by applicable law, and exercise their rights without unlawful discrimination. Review relevant advertising provider controls as well as any request you send us.

Security, children and external links
