Panasonic Corporation, also formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, is a Japanese multinational electronics company based in Osaka.
Along with Sony, Panasonic is one of the leading producers of electronics in Japan. It is comprised of over 634 companies and markets a wide range of products. In 2012 Panasonic was the fourth largest manufacturer of televisions.
The company was originally founded by Konosuke Matsushita in 1918. At the time it focused on selling duplex lamp sockets.
Over the years the company slowly began expanding its product line. By the end of WWII Panadonic was producing a range of different electrical components and appliances.
In the 1960’s Panasonic began producing televisions for the U.S. market under the Panasonic brand name.
Panasonic has a vision to realize “A Better Life, A Better World” for every individual customer.
The company’s operations are divided into three main “business fields”: Consumer, Solutions and Components & Devices.
