Epic Games is working on a third-person shooter/MOBA called ‘Paragon’ for the PlayStation 4 and PC. Epic unveiled a full cinematic trailer of the game as well as gameplay footage.
Epic, based in Cary, North Carolina, is well known for developing the ‘Unreal Engine’, an in-house game engine used to develop the critically acclaimed Gears of War series.
Paragon is set to become the studio’s first game in the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre – meaning that the gameplay/objectives will be somewhat similar to what gamers can expect from titles such as Defense of the Ancients or League of Legends.
According to Epic Games: “Paragon is the MOBA from Epic Games that puts you in the fight with explosive action, direct third-person control, and deep strategic choice. Choose from an ever-expanding roster of unique Heroes, earn cards to customize their abilities, and lead your team to victory.”
An official post on PlayStation.Blog said: “Console development is in Epic’s DNA, so we set out to create a great experience for PlayStation gamers. This is not a port. The gameplay feels great on DualShock 4. Cross-play between PS4 and PC is seamless and the game saves your progress and items across both platforms.”
The studio unveiled an alpha gameplay trailer (captured on PC) as well as the game’s first cinematic trailer.
