Google has discontinued the Nexus 7 tablet, according to a statement published on the Google Store website.
The affordable Android Tablet was released two years and received good reviews.
However, it looks like the Nexus 7 won’t coming back, especially given that the Nexus 9 is already out.
What made the Nexus 7 a success was its affordability and the fact that it received regular updates from Google.
It was praised for being a notable improvement over its predecessor.
The Nexus 7 was the first device to ship with version 4.3 of Android.
The Nexus 7 competes with the iPad Mini, Kindle Fire HDX and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0.
Those who are still interested in buying a Nexus 7 can still get one from third-parties like Amazon – at least before supplies dry up.
Slash Gear said that the “discontinuation shouldn’t come as a big surprise” considering that “Google pulled a similar move back in March with the Nexus 5 smartphone, not to mention the Nexus 9 tablet’s release last fall.”
