How it came to be

The firm was founded by Scott Stevens who has over 2 decades of experience in working with equity funds and investment banking prior to starting Grays Peak Capital. After earning his bachelor’s degree in economics from Michigan State he went on to work for Merrill Lynch as an M&A investment banker, covering many of the industries he is investing into today. He then went on to be a senior analyst at Coatue Capital from 2001-2004.

From there he moved to California for 8 years and worked in a few different investment firms, such as Ivory Capital and JAT Capital, managing their tech portfolios. In 2014, after realising that he could create a unique and innovative approach to his industry, Steve along with a partner, decided to form Gray Peak Capital in New York City, bringing his years of knowledge and ideas to create a template for his firm.

Along with Steve, the team at Grays Peak Capital  has over 60 years of interdisciplinary investment and strategy experience comprised of hedge fund, venture capital, financial & advisory, investment banking, market research, and portfolio management. They have also amassed a number of experts in their network with manufacturing expertise, marketing resources, and technical and executive talent.

Since the company’s inception in 2015, Grays Peak Capital has raised over $50 million for its investments and has set its sights to their next goal of raising $100 million. Several investments have been made to portfolio companies in the last year, which includes companies such as AR software company Niantic, e-cigarette giant JUUL and insurance company Lemonade, which are on pace to exceed $50 million in revenue in 2019.
