Ninth planet could kill us all off some say this month

Could the ninth planet, which was discovered earlier this year and allegedly erased life on Earth several million years ago, do the same again? A group of conspiracy theorists believe it will wipe us all out by the end of this month – April 2016.

The new planet, known as Planet Nine, was discovered by Caltech scientists in the outer Solar System with a mass ten times that of Earth and four times its size.

This large planet is so far from the Sun that it takes from 10,000 to 20,000 Earth years to complete one orbit.

Planet Nine is a long way from the Sun

Professors Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown, who both work at Caltech’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences, say that Planet Nine orbits about twenty times farther from the Sun than Neptune, which is about 2.8 billion miles (average) away.

British tabloid newspaper The Sun quoted Daniel Whitmire, who works at the University of Louisiana in the United Sates, who claims this newly-discovered planet has prompted comet showers that hit our planet in the past and destroyed many species.

Dr. Whitmire, a Professor of Physics, says that there is a large planet out there in our Solar System that knocks comets and asteroids in our direction.

According to fossil evidence, every twenty-six million or so years life on Earth is mysteriously wiped out, Prof. Whitmire wrote in an article in the prestigious journal Nature in 1984.

Prof. Whitmire believes that Planet Nine’s passage through the Kuiper Belt – a region of the solar system beyond the orbit of Neptune, containing many comets, asteroids, and other small bodies made largely of ice – is responsible for the ‘extinction events’ in Earth’s past.

Does planet Nemesis or Nibiru exist?

During the 1980s and 1990s, several groups of conspiracy theorists insisted that a red dwarf planet called Nemesis or Nibiru, which orbits the Sun and comes close to Earth every 36,000 years, was behind the mass-extinction events.

Today, in a world with online communications when everybody hears about everything ultra-rapidly, there is a growing belief among conspiracy theorists globally that another mass extinction event is imminent and will occur by the end of April.

The existence of Nibiru or Nemesis was never taken seriously, with ‘real’ scientists saying they were the inventions of crack-pot pseudo-scientists. However, since Planet Nine was identified by researchers from Caltech (California Institute of Technology), the ridicule has disappeared.
