Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese electronics corporation made up of a number of different businesses.
The company is organized into four main divisions: the Electronic Devices Group, the Digital Products Group, the Social Infrastructure Group, and the Home Appliances Group.
Toshiba was founded in 1939 after the merger of Shibaura Engineering Works and Tokyo Electric Company, which formed Tokyo Shibaura Denki (Tokyo Shibaura Electric Co., Ltd.).
In 1984, the company changed its official name to “Toshiba”.
Ever since its creation Toshiba has had a vision to become one of the world’s leading electrical machinery manufacturers and the Toshiba Corporation is now one of the largest personal computer and semiconductor vendors in the world (in terms of revenue).
