TUI AG (Touristik Union International) is a German travel group, based in Hannover.
The company is Europe’s leading travel and tourism company. It owns a range of travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cruise ships and retail stores.
It was originally an industrial and transportation company called Preussag AG.
However it restructured itself as a tourism, logistics, and shipping company in the 1990s.
TUI AG is made up of the cruise brands Hapag-Lloyd Kreuzfahrten and TUI Cruises, TUI Travel (Europe’s leading tourism company), and TUI Hotels & Resorts (Europe’s leading holiday hotelier).
TUI Travel – operates in around 180 countries in the world, servicing approximately 30 million customers from 31 source markets. It offers products ranging from package tours to specialist offerings.
TUI Hotels & Resorts – manages all TUI hotel subsidiaries. The TUI AG Group has 232 hotels, with hotel brands such as Robinson, Riu, Grecotel, Grupotel, Iberotel and Dorfhotel.
hapag-lloyd Kreuzfahrten – the leading operator of luxury cruises in the German-speaking countries.
TUI Cruises – a joint venture formed in 2008 between TUI AG and the US shipping company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
The company is publicly traded on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the stock ticker symbol ‘TUI1’.
