Whole Foods Market is recalling prepared food products containing baby spinach across 8 states in the US because of a potential contamination of Salmonella.
The voluntary recall was made a day after Long Island, New York-based Satur Farms recalled specific lots of baby spinach and mesclun in New York and Florida.

Salmonella is one of the most common causes of food poisoning in the US. It affects the intestinal tract. Those with compromised immune systems are most at risk.
Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills and abdominal pain.
According to Mayo Clinic, signs and symptoms of salmonella infection generally last two to seven days.
The US Food and Drug Administration said in a statement that the affected products, including salads, pizza, sandwiches and wraps, were sold at stores in Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
Customers in these states are also being advised by the FDA to discard products from Whole Foods’s salad bars and hot bars sold through Wednesday.
