Ameren Corporation is a holding company for several power companies and energy companies, based in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
The corporation, which has a team of approximately 8,527 employees, has more than 2.4 million electric customers and around 900,000 natural gas customers. It is the number one electric power provider in Missouri and the third largest natural gas provider in Illinois.
Ameren Corporation was formed in 1997 following the merger of Missouri’s Union Electric Company and the Central Illinois Public Service Company. It is the parent company of Ameren Illinois, Ameren Missouri, and Ameren Transmission Company.
Ameren Missouri’s generating capacity is approximately 8,199 megawatts (MW), it provides electric service to 1.2 million customers and natural gas to 127,000 customers in 63 counties and more than 500 towns across central and eastern Missouri (including the greater St. Louis area). It operates coal-fired facilities, nuclear facilities, hydroelectric facilities, renewable facilities, and natural gas or oil-fired facilities.
Ameren Illinois generating capacity is approximately 8,913 megawatts (MW), it provides electric power to 1.2 million customers and natural gas to 813,000 customers across central and southern Illinois.
