Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expected to pull the cloth off its first AI Agent Marketplace during the opening-day keynote at the AWS Summit NYC on July 15.

The marketplace promises a single console where enterprises can browse, buy, and deploy autonomous software agents from dozens of vendors.

TechCrunch scoop and launch details

News of the launch was first broken by TechCrunch, which cited two sources “familiar” with the development.

Anthropic: the “foundational partner” with an $8 billion handshake

Amazon’s choice of Anthropic as a partner is no surprise. The e-commerce giant has invested a total of $8 billion in the Claude maker. It has also named it a primary Bedrock model provider. The partnership extends to Anthropic’s MCP. This standard is designed to let different agents share context. AWS will incorporate it into the new marketplace from day one.

Anthropic’s in-house agents will very likely headline the catalog, giving the startup direct exposure to millions of AWS customers.

How the marketplace will work

  • SaaS-style pricing. Vendors set subscription or usage-based rates; AWS takes a “minimal” cut.
  • Cloud-native deployment. Agents install inside a customer’s VPC and inherit AWS compliance badges (SOC 2, HIPAA). Bedrock Guardrails provide policy-based safety.
  • Multi-agent workflows. An AWS blog claims 40 % higher task-completion rates when agents collaborate, thanks to shared memory and code generation.

Strategic context & competition

AWS’s store joins Google Cloud’s AI Agent Marketplace which was launched in April 2025. It also joins Microsoft’s Agent Store from May 2025. There are similar exchanges from Salesforce and ServiceNow.

Holger Mueller of Constellation Research was quoted by SiliconANGLE as saying, “If AI agents are going to be easily consumed by enterprise customers, they need to find their way into marketplaces, and AWS appears to recognize this.

The money trail

Market watchers expect the AI-agent sector to swell to $50.3 billion by 2030. Meanwhile, AWS posted $28.8 billion in Q4 2024 revenue, underscoring the distribution heft it can bring to emerging software categories.

Internal re-org signals high-level focus

In March, Reuters reported that Swami Sivasubramanian took charge of a new group focused on agentic artificial intelligence. AWS CEO Matt Garman has described agentic AI as AWS’s “next multi-billion-dollar business.”

Open questions

  • Exact revenue-share percentages and tiered pricing
  • Whether AWS will plough more cash into Anthropic beyond the current $8 billion
  • How the store will integrate with on-prem offerings such as AWS Outposts
  • Analyst coverage from Gartner, Forrester, and IDC, which remains pending

Outlook

If AWS delivers on catalog breadth and deployment simplicity, 15 July could be significant. It may mark the moment AI agents move from hype slides to the enterprise mainstream. This shift would be backed by the world’s largest cloud and one of its hottest AI startups.
