Samsung announced that it has successfully developed new LTE modem technology with download speeds of 1.2Gbps – much faster than a conventional home fiber connection – capable of downloading full length HD resolution movies in just 10 seconds.
Earlier this year Samsung presented its new flagship Exynos 9 Series (8895) mobile chip, the first mobile processor in the industry to integrate a gigabit LTE modem which supports 5CA (Carrier Aggregation) for downlink, allowing for there to be multiple data streams at once.
Working closely with Anritsu, a Japanese company that measures cellphone network speeds, Samsung was able to develop Cat.18 6CA-supported LTE modem technology achieving up to 1.2 Gbps downlink speed for its mobile processors.
“Carrier aggregation (CA) combines a given number of component carriers with various bandwidths, improving data transfer rates and network performance. By increasing the aggregation capability from the previous model’s five bandwidths to six, the new LTE modem technology will offer faster yet more stable data transfers.”
