Boris Johnson and Donald Trump

Boris Johnson snubs EU special Trump meeting

Published: 17:56, November 12, 2016

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says he is not attending an EU special Trump meeting to be held on Sunday, and repeated his request that his European counterparts get real, accept the democratic process on another sovereign state, and end the ridiculous ‘whinge-o-rama’ over the result of the US presidential election.

* ‘Whinge-o-rama’ means the same as ‘bellyaching’, ‘moaning’, ‘bitching’ – self-indulgent complaining.

Mr. Johnson’s attitude towards Donald Trump has changed dramatically from one year ago, when he said he would not go to New York in case he bumped into the man.

Johnson wants to be Trump’s chum

Now, with the prospect of a trade deal with the United States – seen as a Brexit lifeline for British business prospects – Mr. Johnson is trying to position himself as Trump’s number one ally in Europe.

Boris Johnson and Donald TrumpWhich Johnson will President Elect Trump believe – the one today or a few months ago?

President Elect Trump is bound to remember that the only British politician to stick by him through thick and thin has been the former leader of UKIP, the anti-EU and anti-immigration party, Nigel Farage.

During the referendum campaign earlier this year in the UK, President Barack Obama said that if the British electorate voted for Brexit, the country would be in the back of the queue regarding a special trade deal with the United States.

On 23rd June, Britons voted for Brexit – BRitain EXITing the EU. On June 24th, Donald Trump said that if he became the US President, the UK would be at the front of the queue regarding a trade deal.

2016 – Brexit & Trump earthquake

Two events shocked the pollsters, politicians, media and millions of people across Europe and North America this year:

– Britons voted for Brexit.

– Donald Trump won the US presidential elections.

According to a Foreign Office spokesman today, Mr. Johnson will not go to the meeting on Sunday. He will, however, attend a regular Foreign Affairs Council meeting the following day.

According to most media sources in London, a senior British official will go to the Sunday meeting in Mr. Johnson’s place.

The Foreign Office spokesman said:

“The Foreign Secretary will not attend the meeting convened for Sunday. There is a regular Foreign Affairs Council meeting on Monday where a range of issues can be discussed in the normal way.”

“We do not see the need for an additional meeting on Sunday because the US election timetable is long established. An act of democracy has taken place, there is a transition period and we will work with the current and future administrations to ensure the best outcomes for Britain.”

Video – Boris Johnson says ‘Stop whining’

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told EU leaders on Friday to stop whining about the results of the US election, following a barrage of negative comments coming from politicians across the channel. At a press conference in Belgrade, Serbia, Mr. Johnson said:

“I would respectfully say to my beloved European friends and colleagues that it’s time that we snapped out of the general doom and gloom about the result of this election, and collective ‘whinge-o-rama’ that seems to be going on in some places.”
