Ford says that it does not have plans to discontinue production of its Mondeo family car model.

The automaker made the announcement after the Sunday Times published a report, citing people close to Ford, that the US automaker would stop producing the model.

Ford dismissed the rumour, stating that it will be keeping the 25 year old Mondeo model as a “core part” of its European lineup.

“We have upgrades coming for Mondeo later this year, which will see new powertrains as well as exterior and interior updates as well as enhancements to the Mondeo Hybrid range,” the company said in an e-mailed statement to Bloomberg.

Reports of Ford changing its European lineup come after the company said that it needs to overhaul operations in Europe.

The automaker reported European losses of €73 million between April and June this year. Analysts at Morgan Stanley expect the company to cut 12% of its global workforce of 200,000.

According to Bloomberg, Ford also dismissed claims that there are plans to stop producing the S-Max and Galaxy models.
