When Windows 10 launches it will come in at least six different flavors, with variants of the OS tailored for businesses, personal users, and mobile devices.

Microsoft said on Wednesday that Windows 10 will be available in Home, Mobile, and Pro editions made for individual users, and Enterprise, Mobile Enterprise and Education versions tailored for businesses and educational institutions.

Windows 10 is the first time that Microsoft will launch a single operating system to drive every type of Windows powered device.

“We are making strong progress with Windows 10, and we are on track to make it available this summer,” says Microsoft’s Tony Prophet.

“And because we have built Windows 10 to be delivered as a service, this milestone is just the beginning of the new generation of Windows. Starting this fall, customers can expect ongoing innovation and security updates for their Windows 10 devices, including more advanced security and management capabilities for businesses.”

With the release of Windows 10 across PCs, phones, tablets, and the Xbox One, the company will officially rename Windows Phone as “Windows 10 Mobile”.

In January the tech giant said that personal versions will be offered as a free upgrade to most existing Windows in the first year of the software’s launch.

Windows 10 will also be the “last version of Windows”

Developer Evangelist Jerry Nixon during this week’s Ignite developer conference said that Windows 10 will also be the “last version of Windows,”

He said that the upcoming version of Windows released by Microsoft will be upgraded on an ongoing basis, essentially eliminating the concept of launching next versions. The ongoing upgrade processes will also be free.
